Applicant Tracking System vs Modern Recruitment Software platform

Applicant Tracking System vs Modern Recruitment Software platform

Hi and thank you for checking out another one of my blogs.

My name is Anwar Khalil and I’m the CEO and founder at MyRecruitment+

Today, I’d like to talk to you about the difference between an Applicant Tracking System and a Modern Recruitment Software Platform.

First of all, I’d like to share with you an article that I’ve written for the HRMOnline. and which is relevant to this article.

Please see the link to the article here:  10 tips for choosing the best recruitment software

(Also for your convenience, I have placed the Infographic from the article, here at the end of this article)

In this article, I discuss 10 important tips, actually the most important tips that an HR department should look for and understand before purchasing a recruitment software for their organization.

OK, the reason I’ve mentioned this is because if you look at the below infographic… you’ll see that the first tip is about Applicant Tracking System Vs. Modern Recruitment Software Platform.

So as you might know if you’re a regular reader of my blogs, I have written a few articles already on this topic but you’ll find that I will not stop writing about this topic for a while because this is one that’s very close to my heart, and this topic is like a living organism… always changing and so there is always something new that I think of, and that compels me to talk about.

OK, the point that I’d like to talk about today is the hidden cost aspect of this topic and how the modern platform model should by design eliminate your risk and fear from any lurking hidden cost, creeping in later.

Interestingly enough, hidden cost is another separate point on the below infographic – it’s tip # 4.

So without any further ado, please see the below 6 points about why a modern platform, by nature should eliminate the risk of having any hidden costs:

Point # 1 – Enough testing time

OK, so a modern platform by default will have a commercial model that allows users to use all the features of the platform with either zero cost or at a very tiny cost.  The idea here is making sure that you can stay testing the platform for as long as you need to, and without the pressure from any salesperson.  Each organization is different, and so, some need 4 weeks to become comfortable that the platform they’re testing works for them and some need 4 months.

Point # 2 – No setup cost

A modern platform will most certainly don’t have any setup cost because by design they adopt a self-service and self-customize approach.

Point # 3 – No customization cost

A modern recruitment software platform by its nature will allow users to customize it – that’s what a platform indicates – a platform means it’s a solid foundation that you can build your particular and exact business solution on.  Well, that’s what it should mean – please don’t hold me responsible if a supplier lied about this or any other aspects of their product by calling it a platform when it’s nothing but an old fashion rigid piece of software that you have to change how you do things for it to work.

Point # 4 – No training cost

A modern platform is modern… and so it means it should work how the user expects it to work and therefore it should require no training – the user should pick it up based on their experience from the other leading platform out there such as social media platform and others.

Point # 5 – Instant product update

it’s most certainly that it would so unusual for a supplier to call their product a platform if they don’t adopt a superfluid and continuous development methodology.  This means that the user will on at least weekly if not daily see new improvements in the platform – this could be either new features, bug fixes, performance improvements and other types of updates.

Point # 6 – Open architecture for zero integration cost

A Modern platform will most likely and should be definition have public APIs that would allow their users to integrate the platform within their own technology ecosystem.
